44100 Hz is the sampling rate of the compact disc — the number every recording passes through on its way to your ears. We took it as our name because this project is, first of all, about the music and the people who move it.

This is an open, international archive of electronic-music culture: the DJs, artists, labels, festivals, venues and releases that shaped the scene, cross-linked into one living map you can actually explore.

The site is under active construction. What you see today is the foundation — the collection, the stories and the tools around it grow every week.
