«Almost nine years ago, at the invitation of the general director of "Stantsiya 106.8" Ilya Bachurin, I moved from Volgograd to Moscow. According to his plan, I was to handle the radio station's regional projects and the building of an all-Russia broadcasting network. They had Napoleonic plans, very good Moscow ratings, and they were preparing back then to conquer the country.
I was thrown at all these satellites, regional frequencies. I'd sit for hours in ministries, trying to resolve matters I didn't properly understand myself. I had my own office, a computer, and a car provided by the radio station — an old "Moskvich" with a heater that was impossible to turn off even on the hottest day.
Alongside this I started playing a bit in the clubs — "From Dusk Till Dawn", at the "A-Club", "Jazz Café", at the "Titanic" on the second dance floor. Toto, whom I'd known back from Volgograd, helped me a great deal with this. A few years before the events described, he came to us with his strange project "Muzyka" and was planning to occupy the night-time airwaves of Volgograd's radio stations. He brought vinyl turntables there, two crates of records with trance and rave, and tried to get the local youth hooked on this music. That's when we became friends; he'd send me parcels with music and, once I ended up in Moscow, he'd throw club work my way. Toto was a resident of probably every Moscow club and was in the know about everything going on».
