2001 – XIII on Ibiza. The Second Season

«The next year we set our sights on a whole season at El Divino, settled in there for four months and started working in earnest. Thanks to XIII, probably half of Russia visited Ibiza back then. There wasn't a city that didn't have a representative who'd been to Ibiza. In spring a special promo tour was organized across Russia, where two trips to Ibiza were raffled off at every party. Effectively we operated like a travel agency you could turn to, pick yourself a hotel, work out a program. On Ibiza we had an office that anyone who wanted could come to.
In general, the summer of 2001 was rich in events. Besides Ibiza, we also took on Sharm el-Sheikh, where XIII threw parties at Bus Stop, now the club Pacha. Kolya and I had some hot days – we were torn between Ibiza, Sharm and Moscow. It was a real adventure.
The line-up of the From Russia with Lust parties turned out very strong. Dave Seaman, Boy George, Lisa Loud, and Alfredo, the legendary Spanish DJ, played for us. For the first season of a new club on Ibiza, that was a very serious statement. Especially considering that our direct competitor turned out to be David Morales with his Saturday Def Mix parties at Pacha. Competing with such a star was insanely hard. But we held our ground.
Now, looking back, I understand that XIII opened up the world for Russian clubbers. Many people from Moscow, Petersburg, Rostov, Novosibirsk, having gone to Ibiza, completely changed their views and musical tastes. Before these trips, Ibiza was a forbidden fruit, something utterly unattainable. XIII proved that all of it is real, and that in this world there is nothing impossible».
