A September of festivals

44100Hz continues to introduce its readers to the best festivals of electronic (and not only) music. We invite you to study the list of large-scale musical events that will take place in September 2008 in the most varied places on the planet...

The festival will take place in the open air on the Isle of Wight, near Newport, in Robin Hill park. This year there will be performances by dozens of artists, among them Aphex Twin, My Bloody Valentine, Underworld, CSS, Hot Chip, Will Young, The Coral, Sugarhill Gang, The Breeders, The Human League. Literary tents and cocktail bars will also be open for Bestival guests, and sports competitions will be held. Having won more than one award in "festival" categories, this event is marked in red on the calendars of many music lovers.

A distinctive feature of the Green & Blue festival is the division of the "party" space into two zones that supposedly compete with each other: the green and the blue. This year the green color is represented by: Sven Vath, Onur Ozer, Extrawelt, Raresh. Performing in the blue zone: Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, Tobi Neumann, Tolga Fidan and Chris Tietjen. The show is held by the pool, so swimsuits and trunks should be mandatory attributes of your outfits!

In mid-September a long-awaited techno festival will take place in New York. It will gather such stars as Richie Hawtin, Troy Pierce, Magda, Guy Gerber, Audion, Martin Buttrich and many others. The festival's line-up is growing by the day, so an impressive roster of artists is expected by the beginning of September. The Minitek organizers promise to put on a vivid musical event.

A regular ticket costs about $90, a VIP ticket - about $190.

The Eargasm festival invites you to a wonderful open-air that will take place on September 13 not far from the city of Leuven. The best Belgian DJs and bands will throw you a magical party that will close the season of summer festivals. The organizers promise to prepare special artistic decoration of the venues, a fire show and much more! Performing: Chris Tietjen (Germany), Caspar, Redhead, Massimo Girardi, Dynamic Brothers, Dezz Terquez, Steven, The X'mple, R'DEem, Loop Generation (live performance), as well as Yannick Thiry vs Psyvader, Device, Anoebis, Iz Ambra, Psyborg, Jharu, Nemesis, Firaga, Prehnita.

The ticket price is 15 euros, and in pre-sale - 10 euros.

Brussels will host a two-day festival of new and slightly strange electronic music. Immersing you in the world of the unconventional will be the DJs Move D, Jackmate, Daniel Meteo, as well as SoulPhiction feat. Suzana Rozkosny with a live performance and many others. On Friday a ticket will cost 10 euros, on Saturday - 15 euros, and if you manage to catch the pre-sale, a ticket for both days of the festival will run you just 20 euros.

NexTech will take place for the third time in one of the most beautiful cities in the world - Florence. The festival venue is a 19th-century railway station, which for the period from September 18 to 20 will turn into a real center of the arts. From 6 in the evening until early morning, DJs from different countries will show off their mixing skills: Jeff Mills, Crookers, Joakim, Poni Hoax, Cassy, Chicks on Speed, John Tejada & Arian Leviste, Monolake, Radiq, Andrea Esu, Mass Prod and many others.

Information about ticket prices has not yet been published. Last year, their price ranged from 12 to 23 euros.

On September 19 and 20 Moscow will host the first international festival of contemporary music and media art, Migz 2008. The festival's organizers, the country's oldest club portal 44100Hz and the Red Bull Music Academy, built Migz with an eye on the experience of their colleagues, the founders of the famous Sonar and Amsterdam Dance Event festivals. The festival kicks off on the night of September 19: at the club Arma 17, at Migz's official opening, the stars of the Get Physical label, the Berlin project M.A.N.D.Y. and the veteran of the Moscow techno scene DJ Volodya Trapeznikov will perform. On September 20 the space of the 35mm cultural center (Pokrovka, 47) has been booked for the festival's daytime program. Three stages will be set up here for performances by electronic musicians, among whom are announced Scsi-9, Masha Era, Jorg Burger, Pole, Scott, Mujuice, B-voice and KHz, Korablove, Low Budget Family, Arkady Air & Fligershule, Marsha Smith, Bionaut, Deepology, Hobos, National Techno, Sapunov, Roman Rosic, Kubikov, Sanchez, Zorkin, Grad, Kompas-Vrubel, U.S.O.M, Andriesh, Pascal Bideau, Dsh-Dsh, Acidburn, and there will also be the MigzSpace exhibition stands, a press office and the MigzClass lecture halls. As part of the festival, seminars are planned with the participation of representatives of the Red Bull Music Academy, DJ Groove's School of Electronic Music, RMA and the Kompakt label. On the night of September 20 the festival will move to the club Shanti and the small dancefloor of Gaudi Club: performances by Scott, Pascal Bideau (Shanti) and Andriesh, Arkady Air, Magic B (Gaudi Club) will take place here.

Reworks is a festival of music and contemporary art that will take place in Greece for the fourth time. Its goal is to establish new forms of electronic music. Realizing this task will be: Daddy G (Massive Attack DJ set), Jazzanova, Joe Clausell, Pilooski, Nostalgia 77, Valentino Kanzyani, Marco Bailey, Axel Karakasis, Whignomy Brothers, Lovegoos, Cris Tek & Peter Dub, Tony G and others.

The ticket price for the two days of the festival is 27 euros, for the first day only - 32 euros, for the second - 50 euros.

The festival will take place from September 26 to 27 in the very center of The Hague and will close the season of Dutch festivals. It will gather more than 300 artists from all corners of the world, creating a weekend of unique and most fascinating art performances. The festival welcomes far more than musicians alone: sculptors, painters, journalists, photographers, dancers, fashion designers, and theater and film actors take part in it. The list of announced musical artists is long; here are some of them: Andy Stott, Ben Frost, Dj Serge, Thomas Ankersmit, Mark Boombastik, Prins Thomas.

The ticket price for 2 days is 36 euros.

Over two September weekends with a finale in October, the N.a.m.e Festival will take place. Performing: Loco Dice, Carl Craig, Dubfire, D'julz, Ellen Allien, Nic Fanciulli and Tiefschwarz, Ivan Smagghe vs. Tim Paris and live performances by Quiet Village, Chloe, Martin Battrich. The organizers also promise to hold film screenings, multimedia shows and other interesting projects at the festival. Tickets for the dance venues cost from 13 to 20 euros.

In 2008 the Decibel Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary. In addition to the entertainment program, the festival will host conferences where you can learn about current trends in the world of electronic music. Performing: Deadmau5, Mike Monday, Stewart Walker, Levi Clark, The Bug feat. Warrior Queen and many others.

A ticket for all the festival's festivities costs $175, for all the club events - $125, for the evening club events only - $100.

The Parklife festival has been held annually for nine years in several cities: Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. It has become a real symbol of Australia. This year Parklife will take place once again. There will be a lot of "breaks"-style music at the festival. Performing: Goldfrapp, Soulwax, Peaches, 2Many DJs, Dizzee Rascal, Martin Solveig, Plump DJs, Diplo, Jesse Rose, Does It Offend You, Blackalicious, XXXchange, Elektrons, Yuksek, Van She, Dragonette, Boy 8-Bit, Familjen, Bag Raiders Live, Ajax, Slyde and others.
