January 1994 – The Opening of the Hermitage

«I made a point of not going to places like Red Zone. All the more so since in Moscow, shortly after that, the club story began, in which the main protagonist has to be recognised as Sveta Vickers. Before the "Hermitage" there were clubs too — there was "011" at Drubich's place, "White Cockroach" at the Papernys', but these were one-sided clubs, very much for their own crowd. "Hermitage", on the other hand, became the first full-fledged Moscow dance club.
Funnily enough, the first DJ of the "Hermitage" was me. On the very first night Sveta invited me to play, since there were no status DJs in Moscow back then, and I was a well-known figure. And I, as I recall it now, for a bottle of Martini, spun music there for a very long time, to my own taste, of course. In short, by morning only freaks and characters wasted out of their minds were left on the dance floor. It was the winter of 1994, I think».
