Jazz Cafe

I'm Yuri Kutsarenko, I worked as a resident DJ (my alias is DJ Yura'Dm) at Jazz Academy Cafe - that was the proper name of the very first fashionable and stylish club in Moscow, and in Russia too, I think. I've read a lot of different stories and fairy tales about Jazz Cafe, but the most accurate interviews, I'd say, were with my friend - Siniša Lazarević - and Vlado Ostojić. Our main slogans back then were - "Love + Fashion = Jazz Cafe", and "Jazz Cafe - your right place to meet"! The American magazine Time itself compared us to the most famous club, Studio 54! I really must dig up that article. In the photo, which Katya Gayka took, I'm with Vesna Stanić and my fellow DJ Kolya, and in the second photo it's Siniša, me and Vesna Stanić - that's when Vesna and I brought back this first NLA award, "Club of the Year 1998". They're valuable also because it was the first Night Life Awards nomination; we were the First Club of 1998, and it was the first and last time the NLA jury handed out that unliftable iron thingamajig.
You can see it in the photos. Andrei Fomin knows more precisely about those iron things. And in 1997 Jazz Academy Cafe received a "Golden Ptuch"; I remember Siniša and I went to collect it at the club "Park".
Thank you for your time, respectfully, Yuri Kutsarenko (DJ Yura'Dm).
P.S. After Jazz Cafe I left to work as manager of another club that was well known back then, Studio - that's a story too!
