Dmitry Ashman:
«For the first three years there was a real war between the "Moscow lot" and the "Piter lot". The Piter organization called "Korporatsiya Schastye" (Happiness Corporation) kept fighting over the Forts. At first they simply declared the Forts theirs, then it was already a matter of joint events. We met for a long time, talked, held hands, said all sorts of pleasant things to each other, and then suddenly an interview would come out in which Misha Voron would "f#@k us over", trashing us as visiting Muscovites. Even though I'm actually from Piter myself.
It's funny, but at the same time, at the first Forts there was no fundamental difference between what we did and what the "Piter lot" got up to. As before, only Piter and Moscow DJs played there, there was no advertising, and no special decorations either. The whole party's budget was about ten thousand, so you couldn't really go all out. There were more people, though — around a thousand and a half. And mostly they were Piter folk. There weren't many Muscovites. All in all, only 15–20 cars of our friends turned up, and they didn't make much of a difference. In 2000 we were only just getting into this thing, and the Forts continued to be a picnic "for our own crowd".
Zhora Petrushin:
«The rivalry between the "Moscow lot" and the "Piter lot" will never end. It all comes down to the special Piter mentality, the ambitions of a former capital that overnight became a provincial town».
