My first A-Club

It's hard for me to judge club culture in Russia, since my childhood was spent in a different country. I returned to Moscow in 1998, and I was quite young then. The first Moscow club I ended up in was "A-Club" on Mayakovskaya, I think. We arrived by metro, it was winter, slush, snow... and there we walked up to the club and saw a big crowd. We stood in the queue for about 15 minutes, and I studied the people. Girls in silver ushanka hats and boys in platform boots. Golden embroidered mittens, bags made of transparent plastic... I was amazed. I'd been to clubs more than once before, but only Spanish ones, and when I walked into "A-Club" I was even more surprised. A long blue corridor led to the dancefloor, where they played, it seemed, all sorts of things - both house and jungle... and who was playing there I never did find out. But I remember that I was really hooked when an Armand Van Helden track came on. After that we went to the clubs "Luch" and "Master", and also to "Propaganda". In short, that's how it all got going. Then came "Zeppelin", "Shambala"... and the village of Simeiz with the cafe "Udiva".
