Booka Shade

The German record label Get Physical emerged a couple of years ago but has already gained a reputation as an important link between intellectuals in electronics and those who enjoy dancing leisurely. It's surprising that both groups have embraced GP releases with enthusiasm. One of the founders of the label and one of its main stars is the duo Booka Shade (Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier). These guys have been in the dance business for a long time. Their journey once began at the trance-tech factory Eye Q of Sven Väth. Since then, Booka Shade has honed their production skills to an incredible level, creating a magical shimmer that can be felt in their music like some sixth sense. In an era when most techno composers use samples from the same libraries, Booka Shade creates their own distinct sound. Mesmerizing and gentle, touching and imperfect, like the off-key singing of an amorphous alien from the Soviet cartoon 'Contact.'
