Chikinki
Великобритания
Chikinki is a British electro-rock quintet from Bristol known for driving innovation at every turn—pressing sound and emotional impact through each moment. Formed in 1996 by eight musicians united by passion for music over career advancement, the band has evolved through membership changes while preserving their distinctive vision. Drummer Steve Bond left his Formula-1 automotive design role, while guitarist Ed East abandoned military service. After their bass guitarist departed, they adapted by layering two synthesizers instead. Since turning professional in summer 2000 and releasing their debut album "Experiment With Mother," Chikinki has been acclaimed for their unique blend of psychedelic guitar, electronic textures, and poignant vocals. Signed to Island Records and later the cult Berlin label Kitty-Yo, their album "Lick Your Ticket" achieved resounding success, with remixes by Tom Neville, Gucci Soundsystem, Alter Ego, and Tiefschwarz dominating dance floors worldwide. By 2006, at the peak of their popularity, the quintet had performed over 100 concerts globally and earned support from leading DJs like David Guetta and Jan Driver. Their live shows deliver genuine spectacle—packed with improvisation, no pre-recorded material, and the powerful rock energy rarely found in contemporary musicians—captivating both dance fans and rock purists alike with their authentic rock-and-roll drive.
