Cisfinitum

Cisfinitum is the most promising Moscow project at the moment. The original sound of the band is associated with the use of malfunctioning semi-professional synthesizers and sequencers, Soviet analog synthesizers, acoustic instruments, and elements of concrete sound. The band has released five remarkable albums through leading Russian industrial labels: "Landschaft", "Malgyl", "V", "Music of Light", and "Bezdna". Listening to Cisfinitum’s music, one cannot help but feel a literally physical exceptional detachment and impartiality created by it. Long transitions from one state to another, unexpected bursts of dynamics, and again the desolate spaces where thoughts freeze and unsettling images come to life. Gradually, the deliberately low recording quality is left in the past, and aggression has given way to introspection. The music of the latest albums is memorable for its atmosphere of 70-80s science fiction films - cold, gloomy, and mysterious, yet not devoid of an open worldview and realism. The latest album "ezdna" (2005, Monochrome Vision) is an experiment not so much in the musical as in the emotional realm. Deep and poignant, it touches the darkest corners of the soul and carries one into a ghostly world. The peculiar vibrating sound is provided by Soviet analog synthesizers (ANS, Polivoks, Yunost-21, Formanta, etc.), while the use of live instruments and voices endows it with a particular spirituality - psychoactive dark ambient interacting with melodic components.
