Mike Shannon

Mike Shannon is one of the central figures in the Canadian electronic scene, a brilliant interpreter of the techno genre. Mike was born in 1978 and began DJing at the age of 12 when his father bought him a mixer. Periodic excursions to nearby Detroit, where Mike bought records and attended parties, fueled his interest in techno. By the early '90s, Mike was already a professional DJ and hosted his own parties. By the end of the last decade, he had a Friday residency at the Industry club in Toronto and his own label Cynosure Recordings. He later moved to Montreal, joined the local glitch techno scene, and was a headliner at the famous Canadian electronic festival Mutek. There he befriended Jeff Milligan, with whom he went on a European tour in 2000 - their unique, aggressive playing style stunned audiences. Shannon continued his transition from DJ to producer, and in 2002, his success gained international recognition with the professional Slight of HandForce Inc (www.force-tracks.net), his second LP "Possible Conclusions to Stories that Never End" was released on the Berlin label ~scape (www.scape-music.de), which has published works by Jan Jelinek and Pole, as well as records by Shannon released by Logistic, Onitor, Spectral, and Wagon Repair (www.wagonrepair.ca). Mike Shannon currently lives in Spain.
