Mira Calix

Mira Calix, a native of South Africa and a woman of otherworldly beauty, wife of Autechre's Sean Booth – and an extraordinary musician in her own right. Chantal Passemonte, who composes and performs under the pseudonym Mira Calix, creates intricate electronic music that hasn't lost its sense of life and genuine passion – she weaves found sounds into rhythmic labyrinths, invents nimble melodies, and hums and whispers various paradoxes into the microphone. She is compared to both Aphex Twin and Karlheinz Stockhausen, collaborates with the London Symphony Orchestra, and is known for her eccentric solo performances. A hidden gem of the cult Warp label and one of the few relevant and significant figures in IDM.
