Stewart Walker

American techno producer and self-described global citizen, Stewart Walker has significantly expanded his releases across both hemispheres. His work appears on prestigious labels including Matrix, Mille Plateaux, Tektite, Tresor, Deepfried, Mosquito, and Force Inc., crafted equally for dancefloor and home listening. A lifelong musician since age five—starting with guitar and piano—he discovered electronic music on college radio in the early 1990s. After purchasing his first drum machine in 1992 and experimenting obsessively, his debut techno tracks emerged on Detroit's Matrix Records in 1997. Despite lacking DJ experience, his raw studio energy and live crowd connection proved immediate and compelling, leading to releases on legendary imprints Tresor, Force Inc., and Richie Hawtin's m_nus. This momentum led to representation by Sven Vath's Cocoon booking agency and invitations from Europe's premier clubs. In 2001, he launched his own label, Persona, dedicated to restoring soul to techno through live, interactive concerts with cutting-edge sound. Relocating to Berlin in 2003, he collaborated with Kitty-YO, Tongut, and Tuning Spork, recorded remixes, and released the downtempo album Grounded in Existence.
