Jordi Mas started spinning records in 1997 in his hometown of Manresa, which is an hour's drive from Barcelona. Inspired by the sounds of Detroit techno heard in the Barcelona clubs Nitsa and Discotheque, and later at the emerging Sonar festival, Jordi practiced for hours with turntables and finally decided to try his DJ skills on the dance floors of local clubs and raves. However, the commercialization of the local scene prompted him in 2002, after graduating from physics college, to relocate to London with some funds for a few months in his pocket.
A year later, Jordi Mas was already playing in London clubs Egg, Sosho, and Ministry of Sound, and another year later, he started his own monthly party Minim(o) at the cozy club Public Life, where many artists representing the minimalist edge of house and techno music played: Dan Berkson & James What (live, Poker Flat), Margaret Dygas (Underline), Alison Marks (Dessous), Geddes (Rekleiner), Hector (Phonica, T Bar), and many others.
