Mike Shannon

Mike Shannon has spent half his life under the banner of techno. He is only 25, but has been DJing and making music since he was 13. From childhood, he was close to the sound of Detroit and Toronto. In 1998, Mike moved to Toronto, where he immediately began participating in events called Blue (raves organized by Speed Records), which were put on by Adam Marshall and Jeff Milligan (known for their work in the Algorithm team). Like Marshall and Milligan, Mike decided to create his own label - Cynosure Records - to release his music, contributing to some releases on Blue and Nordic Trax labels. But it was his debut album Slight of Hand (2002) on the German label Force Inc that brought him worldwide fame. Undoubtedly, Shannon confidently jumps from dark tones to bright, soul-stirring ones while maintaining a clear, thoughtful line. A very significant role in his work has been played by his move to Montreal, which occurred due to the concentration of many independent labels, artists, clubs, and many people behind the annual Mutek festival - it is precisely for this reason that the city has earned in recent years the well-deserved title of one of the centers of quality electronic music.
