Exotica / Exotica Lights

In 1996, the Exotica label was founded, and in 1999, in connection with the emerging fashion for easy listening and lounge core and to expand the listener audience, the Exotica Lights sub-label was created. In total, about twenty compact discs have been released, representing the best artifacts of modern Russian intellectual music. In 2001, the internet project ExoticaMusic.ru - Music is a Brainfood! was launched, intended to unite fans and creators of intellectual music and give the Association's activities wide international resonance.

The production center "Exotica" took the most active and direct participation in the "Cultural Heroes of the 21st Century" festival, within which it held a three-day mini-fest of contemporary music called "Tell Tchaikovsky the News", which presented eighteen collectives from fifteen cities of Russia to the public. At that time, a CD with studio works by participants in the festival program was released.
The "Tell Tchaikovsky the News" project became one of the priorities for "Exotica". Over two years following the end of "Cultural Heroes", three more events of the same name were held and four compilations under the same name were released.
The "Tell Tchaikovsky the News" series, representing the entire palette of contemporary Russian electronic music existing throughout our homeland from Siberia to East Prussia, attracted the attention of listeners and critics both in our country and abroad, and successfully demonstrated the presence of great potential, distinctive sound, fresh ideas and cutting-edge technology on the Russian music scene.

Currently, the Association pays much attention to publishing full-fledged albums of the most interesting musicians, previously represented only in compilations, as well as organizing concert performances of artists in Moscow and throughout Russia. All activities of the "Exotica" Association take place under the motto: "We need to help talents, and mediocrities will break through on their own", and are aimed at inspiring and supporting the creative activity of talented youth regardless of their technical equipment and place of residence. Throughout its existence, "Exotica" has earned a reputation as one of the most "progressive" and respected labels among critics and competent musicians. In November of this year, the Exotica label was officially recognized as the best independent label in Russia, receiving the "Golden Gargoyle" - an award for high achievements in the entertainment business.
