2 Many DJs will make a stop in Moscow

On June 23, the Milk Moscow club will host a performance by the Belgian project 2 Many DJs as part of their Under the Covers world tour. 2 Many Djs are one of the most famous electronic musicians in the whole world, the founders of the musical mash up style - a style with crazy musical collages, short cuts from complexly combined compositions.
It all started in 1999, when Stefan and David Duval, musicians of the popular Belgian band Soulwax, were offered to host their own program Hand The DJ on national radio. The brothers found it boring to do a standard radio show. Therefore, having rummaged through their own very extensive collection of records, they extracted the best recordings of the last thirty years, finely chopped them into fragments of one and a half to two minutes and presented them in this form to the listeners. These were true audio equilibristics, “bootlegged” mixes that freely combined the pop hits of Jennifer Lopez with the early punk classics of The Stooges or the roots funk of Sly & The Family Stone. Later, critics will call it a “mash up” - an audio puree without rules and stereotypes.
The program soon moved from Belgium to the UK on independent radio Xfm. After the first broadcast, the studio received a flurry of calls from London promoters, vying with each other to invite Stefan and David to perform at their club. The offers were very profitable, and the Duval brothers easily exchanged guitars for turntables. Thus 2 Many DJs were born.
2 Many DJs have destroyed the established stereotype that you can become a truly popular DJ by playing only house or trance. The innovative approach of the duo 2 Many DJs to DJ work was enthusiastically received not only by music critics yearning for a new sound, but also by the general public. According to the results of a vote by readers of DJ Magazine, the Duval brothers, who first stood behind the turntables just three years ago, entered the Top 50 best DJs on the planet.
However, when it came to releasing the album, 2 Many DJs faced serious difficulties. Clearing the rights to extremely distorted compositions of big stars turned out to be very difficult. The brothers had to send out 865 emails, 160 faxes and make hundreds of phone calls before the album As Heard On Radio Soulwax, pt. 2 saw the light. Fortunately, through protracted negotiations with record labels, Stefan and David gained many influential fans and allies. For example, Mick Jones from The Clash liked the mix of his song Magnificent Seven and the track Romeo by Basement Jaxx so much that he easily signed all the papers allowing 2 Many DJs to continue using The Clash's work.
Today, in terms of their popularity, 2 Many DJs are ahead of many well-deserved veteran DJs. The Duvall brothers are indispensable guests of all major festivals and open air - from the rock-oriented Glastonbury to the dance-oriented Creamfields. There are numerous bootleg mixes of them circulating on the Internet - illegally made recordings of their Hand The DJ radio show. Felix da Housecat and Jarvis Cocker from Pulp are honored to work with Stefan and David.http://www.myspace.com/2manydjs
