20 Years of Dance Culture in Russia and the Others

This is how Volodia Fonarev named his project, deciding to recreate the history of our electronic club scene! 'The thing is that I have long wanted to raise the history of the birth of Russian dance music, how it all happened, to reconstruct the entire chronology and recreate the past twenty years in people, facts, music, clubs, and events. And, finally, there was an opportunity and a desire to do it all,' commented DJ Fonar'. The project will be implemented in three directions - an author's program by Fonarev, 'Znaki' (Signs), is being prepared for release on the radio station Dynamit FM, which will replace 'Atmosphere.' The first part will feature a dance chart, news, and music novelties, the second half of the broadcast will be devoted to history. Discussions about clubs and festivals that have shaped modern club culture, listening to old records and interesting mixes are expected. 'Others' will visit Volodia - DJs, promoters, musicians - who created the history of the club movement. 'Znaki' will air every Monday from 22:00 to 00:00 on the radio station Dynamit FM (101.2). Guests will include: December 5 - Volodia Trapeznikov, December 12 - Zhenya Groove, December 19 - Borya Spider. In parallel, the magazine 'Ne Spat' plans to publish overview articles and interviews with key event participants, where they will share their own versions of what happened in the dance history. The chief editor of the magazine, Dmitry Shalya, explained that 'by comparison, a common picture will emerge. Each person will tell about the part they saw in this twenty-year history in which they participated.' In the next issue of 'Ne Spat,' which will be released on December 1, the first historical article about the period from 1986 to the early 90s will be published. Volodia Fonarev will talk about the first discos (Orion, Jump), the first sound systems, the techniques of playing on early tape recorders, and much more. The recreation of club history will take place on a separately created portal, where we will post old photos, flyers, interesting notes, and interviews, where site visitors will express their opinions. Everyone will be able to share their story online. In addition, Volodia Fonarev has included in his plans the organization of themed parties. The first event will take place on January 13, 2006, within the 'Others' project - a grand festival where the most legendary Russian DJs and musicians will take part. The ravers of the 90s generation and the current generation of clubbers in one place and at one time. Without the past, there is no future!
