Alex Attias Will Perform at Kult
Клубные российские · 15.10.2006
Alex Attias's performance at 'Kult' will be the musician's first visit to Russia. Monsieur Attias's contributions to the world of underground electronics and nu-jazz are indisputable, and his tracks must be present in the collection of any self-respecting music lover. Alex's career began back in 1988 when he started DJing in his hometown of Lausanne, Switzerland. At that time, he spun early house, classic funk, and disco, gradually moving towards an eclectic sound where 'dancefloor jazz', which was forming as an independent style at that time, took center stage. In 1995, Alex began producing his own music. Tracks created under the name Bel-Air Project immediately topped the playlists of such luminaries as 4 Hero, Giles Peterson, and Stacey Pullen: this opened all doors for Alex. In 1997, he moved to London, which at the time was the absolute center of the music underground. Here, under various names (inventing special pseudonyms for each new project became a good tradition in the West London scene), he collaborated with local musicians, and Alex's creations were released on all major electronic jazz labels. The musician's discography, which spans several pages of text, includes releases and remixes on such prominent labels as Ubiquity, Compost, Yellow, Irma, Talkin’ Loud, 2000 Black, and many others. In 2001, the California company Ubiquity released the album of Alex's project 'Beatless', which featured contributions from Madlib and Quasimoto, Nathan Haines, Colonel Red, Mark de Clive-Lowe, and members of the cult funk project from the 70s Sons & Daughters Of Life.
Alex also releases mixes and compilations for the Italian label Irma, the London distribution Goya Music, produces Vanessa Freeman and Jessica Lauren, and collaborates with Dego from 4 Hero. Alex has also become a recognized master of remixes - his discography includes remakes of tracks by iconic figures such as Tony Allen, Ennio Morricone, Laurent Garnier, John Tejada, and Roni Size.
In 2000, Alex founded his production center and label Visions Inc. and began work on his solo project Mustang. The album 'Back Home' was released in 2004 on Compost Records and became one of the best records of the year. Alex's DJ sets reflect his eclectic musical tastes - his love for techno and sophisticated broken beat is combined with a long-standing passion for jazz and soul. Therefore, you can expect anything from the maestro.
