Alex Kowalski in the City
Клубные российские · 13.06.2006
Alexander Kowalski is 28 years old, his 'space techno' is highly valued by genre superstars like Sven Väth and Laurent Garnier. The third solo album of this Berliner, 'Response', released in 2003, was almost a worldwide event: the single 'Belo Horizonte' instantly became a super hit, as did the remix of Dave Gahan's track 'Bottle Living' from the album 'Paper Monsters'. Alexander is visiting the club 'City' as part of the promo tour for his fourth album 'Changes', released on the label Pias/different. The uniqueness of Kowalski's performances lies in the fact that he doesn't play whole tracks during his sets, but loops passages, evaluating the audience's reaction. In his laptop, he stores about a hundred drafts and semi-finished products, and if the audience starts dancing to one of these semi-finished products, Alexander then turns it into a full track. This is a very original approach to music production, according to Kowalski himself, as many musicians in the studio do not always succeed in distinguishing 'infectious' music from stagnant and clear from unexpressive. Alexander developed this formula after moving with friends from his hometown of Greifswald to Berlin. 'Live,' Alexander is much more explosive than his albums, especially since he recently decided to revive the Double X project, created in 1999 with his friend Torsten Litschko. Double X's work was limited to a couple of vinyl records for a long time, but for the tenth anniversary of Kanzleramt, the guys decided to give a present by recording the first full-fledged solo album 'A:Live'. It's worth mentioning that Alexander Kowalski has already been in the 'City' – the club was one of the first venues in the world where his Double X project presented the album 'A:Live', and now the Berliner is heading to the 'City' to present his solo album 'Changes'.
