Since the beginning of October, for a person who is into techno music, there is a place to go. To go where the most authentic Moscow techno DJs play, to go where techno enthusiasts gather. Since the beginning of October, right under the walls of the Kremlin, at the bar 'Phlegmatic Dog,' one of the most famous Russian DJs both in Russia and abroad, Anton Kubikov, has started his own techno Thursdays - tech-Thursdays. Today, rarely in any Moscow club is there such a friendly atmosphere, and rarely does such a knowledgeable music crowd gather at any club. The only drawback is that the parties are held on Thursdays, but clubbers who have been around are used to it - DJ Sanchez has taught them to go to work/school on Fridays with a headache, and for true fans of this music, it's like a breath of fresh air among all this rapidly dulling and poppifying club life. Specifically for 44100, Anton Kubikov graciously agreed to answer a few questions: 44100 What is the main concept of your parties? Kubikov The main concept of the parties is to play techno music in a cozy, intimate space. Since this usually happens in large venues, with a very large gathering of diverse audience, which is not always compatible. Our goal is to provide as much comfort as possible to people, as many avoid such events for this reason. 44100 How broad will techno/electro music be represented at your parties? Will it only be danceable techno, or will there be parties in the style of Basic Channel/Deep Chord? Kubikov By inviting different DJs, we will try to diversify the sound palette. However, by doing so, we can completely kill the stylistics of these parties. 44100 Will not only Moscow-based but also Russian techno DJs and musicians perform? Kubikov We would love to see DJs from other Russian cities at our parties, but I'm afraid to plan anything yet. 44100 Will any techno world stars perform (like Michael Mayer, Ricardo Villalobos, Jeff Mills :))? Kubikov I really hope for the arrival, at the beginning of next year, of people from the Kompakt label. The fact of such parties appearing in Moscow implies such a possibility. 44100 What do you think about the promotion of this 'non-fascist' techno in Moscow, and the success of your parties in general? Kubikov Anyway, this music has been playing in Moscow for a long time, and we are just adding another element to the picture. I really hope it's worth it.
