Apparel Label Night

Every year, Russian musicians are increasingly integrating into the global scene, and the Shanti club is becoming an important hub of this integration. Partnerships are being formed not only with individual musicians, but also with entire labels and promo groups. This time, the focus is on the young Italian label Apparel, proponents of soft and warm sound, aesthetes who infuse their club house tracks with sophisticated jazz notes. Among the long list of artists in the Apparel Music circle are half a dozen Russians, including SCSI-9, Korablove, Alex Danilov, and Polar Light. The flagship of the Apparel Night at Shanti will be the label boss, DJ and musician Giuseppe d'Alessandro, better known as Kisk. He will be joined behind the decks by DJ Sapunov, as well as Anton Kubikov, whose project SCSI-9 has become one of the key players for Apparel. Providing a visual kaleidoscope to accompany the music will be VJ Khz.TV.

Apparel Music label was formed just a year ago, but its bosses excel in one essential aspect - Kisk and his friends have a clear vision of their mission and the music they aim to bring to people. The Apparel concept is formulated very simply. The club music, which is becoming increasingly minimalist year by year, is offered a bit of 'clothing' (remember, Milan, where the label is based, is the fashion capital of the world). The Italians chose jazz as the main guiding vector - stylish, elegant music with a historical kinship to techno. Almost every release from Apparel Music includes the word 'Jazzy' in its title - 'Jazzy Market,' 'Jazzy Tourism,' 'Jazzy Caravan,' and so on. The sound matches the theme: alongside the light and dynamic house rhythm section, Apparel musicians consistently add either languid deep chords and funky bass, or keyboard trills, or poignant saxophone riffs.

Having outlined the concept, Giuseppe and his colleagues embarked on recruiting artists from around the world, and they succeeded in this. Soon, the list of Apparel Music partners was enriched with well-known figures. Maxim Milyutenko (SCSI-9) recounts: 'After SCSI-9's performance in Milan, a true Milano-Moscow Connection was born; led by Giuseppe D'Allessandro, the label now also releases our other artists (Korablove, Barrytone), orders remixes in Moscow, mastering at Shanti Studio, and in general earns a genuine Musical Order of Friendship of Peoples.' The very first vinyl release from Apparel, Kisk's 'Jazzy Tourism' record, featured a remix by SCSI-9, and in the near future the label will release SCSI-9's own vinyl 'Ushuala,' which will include two new tracks from the duo, as well as remixes by Yapacc and Tom Clark.
