The 'bad boy' of house music - that's what he's called! Armand Van Helden, a DJ flying to Moscow, is coming to the most danceable club of the year, not only awaited by Fabrique but by all of Moscow and regions, as this is his first visit to Russia! Armand, the New Yorker who lacks a car, his own house, and other expensive trinkets, but is full of energy, love for hip-hop (which he loved long before it became 'cool'), and possesses a collection of thousands of rock albums, spends hours in second-hand music stores searching for 'new' music. 'You have to know and love classic rock if you make music,' says Armand as a producer. 'My favorite musicians are Steve Miller Band, Led Zeppelin, Blondie. House music has its transitions, the combination of low bass, but today rock is becoming very popular again, especially in the club scene, and I'm trying to find a balance between rock and house!' Armand's unique blend of house and hip-hop, sometimes mixed with rock and his own sound, baffles clubbers in Ibiza and London. 'One of the good aspects of hip-house is that it has a lot of lyrics, it has a great impact on people,' says DJ Armand. Todd Terry, the 'brother' of Armand in music, has influenced Van Helden's work with his aggressive style of play in the late 80s. Since 1992, Armand has worked as a DJ and promoter at the 'Loft' club in New York, collaborating with X-Mix Productions, where he recorded his first album 'Stay on My Mind'! Soon after the album's release, gaining fans from England to America, Armand became the main DJ at New York's best dance club 'Sound Factory,' followed by hits like Tori Amos' 'Professional Widow' and Sneaker Pimps' 'Spin Spin Sugar,' among many others. 'I have attention deficit syndrome,' jokes Armand, 'I quickly get bored.' In the sea of faceless artists and DJs, Armand caught the attention of English media promoters who then predicted his 'mega-stardom.' And they weren't wrong! In 1999, his hit 'You Don't Know Me' reached number 1 on all English pop charts, followed by his album '2future4u,' and collaborations with Puff Daddy, Janet Jackson, and The Rolling Stones! Now, as a house music star, he is 100% confident in himself! 'I work hard. And I want to reap the rewards of my work!' says Van Helden. Every time before coming up with something new, he often turns to old melodies. He listens to old records for hours. 'Sometimes I don't even know whose they are,' Armand laughs! 'I try to do what I feel. Honestly, when I wake up, which is usually in the evening))), I love writing music in my studio - it's number one in my life. Everything else is secondary!' Armand Van Helden, the legendary DJ from the USA, will perform for the first time in Russia at Fabrique on April 29, 2004. He is a Grammy-nominated DJ/producer/remixer and the creator of worldwide hits like 'U Don't Know Me,' 'Koochy,' 'Flowers,' 'Hear My Name,' 'Why Can't You Free Some Time?,' 'Witch Doctor,' 'Funk Phenomena,' and 'My My My'. He is also known for remixes for Rolling Stones, P. Diddy, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, and Tori Amos. He has headlined top musical events worldwide! with DJs Cosinus & Slatkey, Ivanov, Lupin, Technik
