Atomic Hooligan in Moscow and Saint Petersburg

Atomic Hooligan consists of Matt Welch and Terry Ryan, a breakbeat collective from England that has firmly established itself in the breakbeat scene since the early 90s. Today, the Hooligans continue to be one of the brightest and most progressive artists in the breakbeat scene, confidently moving forward with releases on respected labels such as Botchit Breaks, Distinctive, MOB, 2S2. They have also done remixes for Underworld, Aquasky, Ragga Twins, Tayo, Chris Carter, and a collaborative project with electronic music legend Freddie Fresh. Atomic Hooligan are no strangers to the airwaves, having appeared on shows on Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1, Gaia Live, Pyrotechnics, Rude Awakening, and on the program of the legendary Roni Size on Ministry of Sound Radio. Their label Menu Records, launched with Jay Cunning, the #1 DJ in the world of breakbeat music, is also noteworthy, and together they host their own show on the pirate radio station Breaks FM (www.breaksfm.com). Compilations 'Botchit Breaks 5' and '4 Vini' were mixed by Atomic Hooligan, showcasing their magic on the turntables - their live performances are filled with unpredictability and an incredible atmosphere. 'First and foremost, I try to do things differently, talking about the music I play or the style I play it in. I don't want people who have heard my set to say, 'Yeah, everything was okay.' I want them to be impressed with how I play. I don't follow any trendy techniques emerging on the DJ scene. I really want to show the majority of these DJs that DJing is not just about playing the latest release that you just bought and that every DJ on stage is playing, and not about playing the latest record from your label or something similar. A good DJ is capable of expressing himself on the turntables just as he is in creating music! I don't try to plan my shows, I want people to think to themselves, 'I'm going to listen to a set by Atomic Hooligan because he is unpredictable,' - Terry says. The evidence of this lies in the constant parties around the world, a recent tour of North America, performances at various festivals including the Esparaggo festival in Spain and ESPN X Games. The visit to Russia coincides with the release of Atomic Hooligan's official remix of the track 'Underworld - Born Slippy', being released on Virgin/V2 along with reworks from Underworld themselves, as well as remixes from London Electricity and Paul Oakenfold.
