Barry Gilbey and Sarah Whittaker-Gilbey started releasing tracks under the name 'Мара' in 1997. Their music immediately caught the attention of DJs, club-goers, ravers, and music enthusiasts worldwide. Barry and Sarah set out to create music that excites, and quickly achieved the desired results. Their earliest singles, such as 'Falling' and 'Orinoco', received strong support from Johnny Digweed, Taylor, and Jimmy Van Malleghem - the duo had an excellent start. One of their early works with DJ Sasha even became anthems at renowned clubs like 'Twilo' and 'Cream'. Over time, the sound quality of 'Мара' reached new heights. The stunning track 'Desanitize on Acetate Ltd' became a nuschool breakbeat anthem. Their remixes for Freefall, Chakra, and Mark Shimmon garnered huge interest from the public - they were talked about in the press and on the most famous dance floors. The original compositions of the Gilbeys ('One', 'Coming Down', and 'Fall') appeared on countless compilations, including those released on various global underground labels. They echoed on the radio, thrilling the trendy clubs of America and Europe. Recently, 'Мара's sound has evolved in several directions simultaneously. It is worth noting that Barry Gilbey and Sarah Whittaker-Gilbey collaborated with Deep Dish, Anthony Pappa, and Satoshi Tomiie. All these high-quality remixes released on the label Choo Choo, owned by Barry Gilbey, were used by super-progressive DJs. The shows of Barry and Sarah Gilbey shook the stages in Miami, Toronto, Atlanta, Mexico, Amsterdam, and even one of the coolest music emporiums in the UK, Massive Records.
