Rui Da Silva, at 35, is already considered one of Portugal's best music export products. His first record, released in 1992, was experimental, if not worse. According to Rui: "I loved Japan, David Sylvian, Brian Eno, and Sonic Youth. My first record was just experiments with some equipment that I had just bought. I had a bass guitar and amplifier, sold them, and bought a drum machine and sampler, and we printed a few copies." Starting with such timid steps in the field of electronics, Rui soon founded the first significant Portuguese label, Kaos Records. Thanks to his innovative approach and individual sound, releases from this small Portuguese label were licensed by such pillars of the house movement as Tribal and Twisted Records (US). Following these initial successes, Rui, along with his best friend DJ Vibe, founded the project "Underground Sound Of Lisbon." Almost all USL releases (So Get Up, Dance With Me, Are You Looking For Me) became true underground house classics. Thanks to them, as well as various compilations, mixes, remixes, and USL parties, Portugal, which was previously associated only with port wine and sandy beaches, appeared on the club culture map. Playing his role in the development of modern music in his homeland, Rui moved to London in 1999. Not getting lost in the crowd of DJs and producers from around the world in the capital of club culture, Rui established yet another label, Kismet Records. The label was primarily designed for followers of true underground house music. "Now I have the chance to release what I want, without any outside interference," Rui says. Thanks to his talent, passion, and dedication, Kismet has become synonymous with haute couture house music, always a step ahead in quality and level, expanding the boundaries of deep and tribal house. Despite a demanding and non-commercial approach to his work, last year Rui, together with singer Cassandra, recorded a true anthem "Touch Me." The song immediately exploded on dance floors worldwide. The first copies of the promo release were played by all the leading DJs in the world: Deep Dish, John Digweed, the biggest Kismet fan Danny Tenaglia. One of the world's best DJs, Paul Oakenfold played it 5 times during his set at the Pacha super-club in Ibiza. "Touch Me" reached the top of the English and European charts, the MTV chart, and became a true song of the year. Cassandra's touching vocals, trance chords, and the feeling of deep house earned "Touch Me" a nomination for "Best Single of 2001" by Muzik magazine. In September 2002, Rui recorded a follow-up to "Feel The Love" with singer Victoria. After its first play on Pete Tong's show, the most authoritative figure in English club show business, it was declared the best track of his program. Today, Rui is among the best producers and musicians on the modern house scene. Many pop stars are in line for his remixes, and his DJ sets gather thousands of dance music fans. In just the last year, Rui traveled the world, co-headlining the MTV festival in his hometown of Lisbon alongside Faithless and spent the entire summer playing in the best clubs of dance Mecca, Ibiza: Space, Pacha, Amnesia. For the first time in Russia, Rui Da Silva will perform on November 6 at the Tunnel club, perfectly suited for his music, as shown by the Twisted Party featuring Rui's friend Rob Di Stefano (Twisted NYC), which took place at the Tunnel on May 31, 2002.
