Booka Shade set fire to Kiev

On September 16, a performance by the German duo Booka Shade was supposed to take place at a party organized by the Get Physical label in Kiev. However, it was disrupted due to a fire that broke out on stage during a presentation of the Pinchuk Art Centre's modern art museum, which was held before the performance of the international guests. It all started very conceptually - with the destruction of a polystyrene wall symbolizing all the bad things in Ukrainian culture. During the subsequent pyrotechnic show, sparks landed on the polystyrene debris, causing a fire. After regaining their composure after 20 minutes, the organizers helped the musicians Booka Shade save their equipment, while at the same time trying to extinguish the fire that had flared up by that time. Due to some of the instruments being damaged, the performance had to be canceled. It's a pity - according to those who saw the soundcheck, an unforgettable show was being prepared, both musically and visually. Now, Kiev fans of the collective's work can only hope that the musicians did not take offense at the 'warm reception' and will come again, to a more fireproof location.
