Pork Recordings boss with his dj-set

As part of the 'Subelectronica' party series, DJ Porky will perform at 'Shanti' for the first time. Porky, also known as Dave Brennand, is a significant figure in British and world electronic music. A producer, musician, and music lover with a huge collection of rare records, he made history in music by founding the label Pork Recordings in 1993 together with partner Steve Cobby. Establishing the record company, Porky not only made a name for himself but also for his hometown of Kingston upon Hull, a hitherto provincial town in the northeast of the empire. Under Porky's guidance, Hull, one after another, like a model factory, began delivering wonderful names such as Baby Mammoth, Momma Gravy, Leggo Beast, Horsemilk, or Mr. Potatohead - which got all of England talking about Pork Recordings and its founder. It was PORKY who discovered, released, and glorified the unparalleled duo Fila Brazillia (label partner Steve Cobby + Dave 'Man' McSherry). The projects he produced and released became a highlight year after year at the leading British festival The Big Chill, and the number of Pork Recordings releases over the ten years of the company's existence exceeded a hundred. In the new decade, Pork Recordings became a real talent forge for labels such as 23 Records or Ecco.Chamber. The reputation of PORKY's brainchild remains unrivaled in British underground electronic music to this day. Intellectual, teasing non-lounge music, uptempo, funky-soul: the game of imagination started by PORKY continues to engage new participants, among them in Russia - the electronic group Tetris, which Porky discovered during one of his visits to Moscow and signed to Pork Recordings. The game goes on. Every set by the boss of this empire of wonders becomes an event. The start of the new 'Subelectronica' season is an excellent opportunity to see this firsthand.
