Future hits 2006

The appearance of the "Future Hits 2006" compilation on the shelves of music stores is highly symbolic. This is a kind of milestone, a new reporting point that determines the further development of Russian dance culture.
Electronic music is increasingly invading the traditional habitat of pop culture. House and trance tracks outgrow the club culture that gave birth to them, begin to be heard on radio and TV, and become part of the mass music market. Today there is a process of convergence, a merging of pop and dance culture. Numerous "Star Factories" use elements of club music in order to be accepted by the new generation, brought up on British house, Dutch trance and German techno. In turn, traditionally considered “underground” adherents of electronic music borrow elements of outright “pop”, gradually becoming part of mass cult.
This merger would have been impossible if record companies specializing in dance music had not appeared in Russia. The leader of this movement was the Uplifto label founded in 2002 by Sergei Pimenov. From the very beginning, Uplifto focused on the release of domestic electronic artists, on representing the entire spectrum of different genres, from trance and electro doomed to commercial success to experimental IDM and new rock. Today there are 15 original releases in the Uplifto catalog. The label's artists include Katya Chekhova, "Cast Iron Skorokhod", Agent Smith, Tina Charles, Swanky Tunes and many other extremely popular electronic musicians in Russia.
The disc "Future Hits 2006" is a detailed guide to the diverse musical world of Uplifto. The compilation included completely new tracks doomed to success; compositions that are destined to become the main dance hits of 2006. With the light hand of this collection, they will immediately “go among the people”, and already in the summer of 2006 they will radically change the sound landscape of Russian megacities.
