"Golden Gargoyle" Club Award Ceremony

The Golden Gargoyle Award is the only Russian alternative music award that expresses the independent opinion of one of the main Moscow clubs. The club rewards performers and other figures in the music industry for their professional merits and successes. This year the award is presented for the seventh time, and for the first time the award ceremony is held as a closed event for selected guests.
In accordance with the diversity of the club's repertoire, award nominations have been formed, which represent a whole range of musical styles. Among the winners are both famous musical groups and young performers, both rock bands and electronic musicians. The list of 13 nominations is as follows: VIA, dance project, guru, disc jockey, music reviewer, independent music project, promoter, hip-hop artist, foreign group (performer), electronic project, World Music, experimental project, Record Label.
By annually presenting the "Golden Gargoyle", the Sixteen Tons Club confirms its status as an influential Moscow club, a trend-setter, a place where those whose names are associated with Russian culture, show business and the media world meet. The uniqueness of the award also lies in the fact that, unlike the classic protocols of Western music awards, the nominees are kept secret until they are announced during the ceremony, thereby creating intrigue and providing an effect of surprise. The course of the ceremony is ensured by the presenters, who introduce the awardees and the recipients. Among the award recipients are famous people - friends of the club (for example, Fyodor Bondarchuk). The recipients, that is, the winners in the presented nominations, will perform their compositions. Video clips specially prepared by the art department of the 16 Tons Club are broadcast on the club’s screens.
Among the guests are famous musicians and showmen, TV and radio stars, producers, film and theater workers. Each guest will receive, among other gifts, a CD with music in the funk, soul & disco style, created especially for the club’s birthday by DJ Shum, better known as the founder of the “Vdokh” label, producer of the group 5nizza and frontman of the group “Who Knows?”. Over the seven years of the existence of the Golden Gargoyle award, its laureates have included Garik Sukachev and Bi-2, Alexandroid, Dolphin and The Residents, Aquarium and Knife for Frau Muller, Mumiy Troll and Laika, Dancing Minus and Leonid Fedorov, Pan sonic and Polite Refusal, Alexey Aigi and Anton Kubikov. They all performed in our club. The Golden Gargoyle was received by music journalists Artemy Troitsky and Yuri Saprykin, promoters Mikhail Kozyrev and Katerina von Gechmen-Waldeck, Play magazine and many others.
