Four-Hour Marathon of Experimental Electronic Music

The upcoming Urban Soundscape 06 festival is already the 5th in a row. It will take place on the eve of Christmas and New Year at the Moscow Center for Arts. The final concert, summing up the year 2005 in the field of electronic culture, will be special. The audience and viewers can expect the premiere screening of the film 'Murmansk 333' by the Viennese artist Anna Cee, a performance by one of the brightest and most colorful representatives of new Austrian electronic music Franz Pomassl, a plastic installation, multi-screen video projection on the walls of the Center for Arts, with several video artists working together and simultaneously. During 2005, 4 Urban Soundscape festivals have already taken place in Moscow, becoming a significant phenomenon not only among fans of experimental electronic music but also a bright event in Moscow's cultural life. Perhaps the most memorable were the 3rd and 4th festivals, held respectively at a cinema with a large screen and Dolby Surround Digital sound, and at Art Strelka, one of Moscow's most famous art venues, where musicians performed within the framework of the 3rd International Video Art Festival 'Empty'. Urban Soundscape 06 presents well-known Russian and foreign artists (musicians and visual artists) whose creativity does not fit into conventional standards. These artists experiment with the latest achievements in computer technology, aiming for a new sound of human emotions. Their works have attracted attention from audiences in different countries, and their creativity will shape the future of music and cinema. One of the festival's goals is to give impulses to artists, musicians, and designers. It is a kind of creative laboratory where people share their discoveries with each other. The concert features 4-6 different performers who take turns with minimal pauses. Each performer works with their own video artist, who plays with the musician, creating a film in real-time that the audience sees on the screen in a darkened space. Thus, the audience perceives the concert as a unified work, which guarantees their attention throughout the entire concert.
