Cleaning Women. Guys in Skirts and Makeup
Клубные российские · 19.03.2006
What a joke? Three guys in skirts and makeup, jumping like monkeys over homemade instruments (clothes dryers! buckets! cans from canned food!), shouting meaningless slogans about the benefits of cleaning. Can this be taken seriously? It's necessary. Anyone who has been lucky enough to see Cleaning Women in a packed art house club will not doubt the impeccable quality of this product. All participants of the industrial project are dressed in women’s business suits, but the energy and temperament that Cleaning Women are famous for are far from girly. Dryers, bass necks, wild sound, and an amazing sense of elbow - under avant-garde punk-jazz, at first giving goosebumps, and in the end, both young and old dance. "Punk-jazz" is not the only definition that the inhabitants of the planet Cleanus Tero (Robot #4), Risto (Robot #3), and Timo (Robot #1) give to their music. They also like "Intergalactic Industrial Disco-Rock" or "ambient afro-techno-riff-crunch." That's how the first album "Pulsator" sounds (released in Russia in 2004). The second one, "Aelita - The Queen Of Mars" (FeeLee Records, 2004), is a mystical soundtrack to the silent film of the same name by Yakov Protazanov. With this album, the band represented Finland at the Moscow International Film Festival. CW, jetsetting around European avant-garde festivals, are among the most beloved guests in Moscow. Cleaning Women have as many fans in Russia as in their homeland - including Tequilajazzz leader Yevgeny Fedorov, who sang the song "Technigrad" on "Aelita - The Queen of Mars." Industrial clanging and howling, echoes of Lapp lullabies, Sufis, and a smirk at technopop; Cleaning Women found the off-ramp from the autobahn led by Kraftwerk's music, straight to a parallel world, to the planet of cleaning robots, Cleanus. The wittiest dystopia, the most ominous dance tunes, the most functional clothes dryers! The day after Ikra experiences Cleaning Women-style cleaning, the guys will present another project - Comet - no less interesting, but yet to be discovered in Russia. Tune in to Finnish madness! March 25, Ikra Club, starting at 23:00 Cleaning Women (Finland) Tickets: 500₽, 1000₽, 1500₽
