Cocoon: Egbert (live), Markus Fix and Karotte - for the first time in Moscow
Клубные российские · 02.03.2010
On March 7, a new episode of the Cocoon techno parties series will take place at the Discoteque club featuring Egbert (live), Markus Fix, and Karotte. All of them will perform in Moscow for the first time.
Egbert (live)
A protégé of Cocoon's ideologist Sven Väth, the Dutchman Egbert started making music at the age of nine. His years of training have paid off: after releasing his debut Stroom EP a year and a half ago, Egbert skyrocketed. His flamboyant tech house, equally leaning towards progressive house, dub, and classic Detroit sound, found a place in Cocoon instantly. Sven Väth included the track Magie in his mixed album The Sound of the 10th Season, and the summer hit Vreugdevuur by the Dutchman is played by all his colleagues – from Väth himself to DJ Karotte, who, like Egbert, is a resident of Cocoon. Egbert's live performances consist 100% of his own tracks: combining melodiousness, groove, and an energetically tough delivery, these performances have deserved the "must-have" label within just a year.
DJ Karotte
Joining the newly minted techno hero will be the all-around nice German, Karotte. Vital brunette Peter Karotte, in his fifties but still wearing size M shirts, plays vinyl, dances, and goofs around at the turntables. Specializing in ironic techno, he manages to do it all: host a weekly radio show Karotte's Kitchen and be a resident not only at Cocoon but also in Munich's best techno club, Harry Klein. In February, Mr. Karotte celebrated his birthday at Cocoon with a fiery Back2Back set with the well-known Miss Kittin – and that's another point in his favor.
DJ Markus Fix
The third participant of the upcoming event is DJ and producer Markus Fix. Markus's tracks, who has repeatedly stated in interviews that the audience is tired of minimal techno, tend to lean towards house, with plenty of percussion and groovy elements – besides Cocoon, his works are also released on a dozen other labels. Playing diverse sets with a wide musical palette on the big dance floor, Fix professes his love for Kraftwerk and Yello and periodically shares festival stages with the "father" of the label Sven Väth.
For the latter, Moscow seems to have almost become a second home – in a recent interview with Timeout magazine, the longtime promoter of Cocoon parties, Volodya Trapeznikov, confessed that Sven Väth's performance at the Discoteque club on May 21 is officially confirmed. To evaluate Moscow's label parties, the label manager will come to the March Cocoon episode – and Discoteque will definitely not disappoint him.
