Shanti's Birthday
Клубные российские · 28.01.2007
Over three years, Shanti has become one of the most successful venues in Moscow. Shanti is a triple threat: a Vietnamese restaurant, a Chinese tea house, and a gallery featuring antiques from Tibet – it has long been a must-stop on the city's club and restaurant route. Every evening here features the most sought-after DJs and producers, both local and international; the freshest music from vinyl and live performances; and the most interesting people, who are always the first to discover all that is new and intriguing. Each evening at Shanti, you can dance on a small cozy dance floor, sip on cocktails or fresh juice blends according to original recipes, lounge on a sofa, or dine on the most delicious Thai soup in town in the adjoining room. To celebrate its third anniversary, Shanti will host the New York duo Slam Mode. Once, a journalist said of Slam Mode, 'If there were a soundtrack for a sunrise, Michael Cole and Angel Rodriguez would be the best for the job.' Their dreamy instrumentals are a fusion of garage, house, and pure magic. Their journey in electronic music is unique, their production style is exceptional, and their music is emotional and expressive. Slam Mode are not only producers but also talented DJs. They were among the first duos to incorporate both vinyl and CDs during a set (this is still their signature playing style). They are in demand worldwide and can be found behind the decks everywhere – from New York to Helsinki, from Toronto to Moscow. They draw inspiration from New York's soulful underground scene, playing everything from drum-n-bass to afrobeat, striving to combine as many genres as possible. Slam Mode say that their mission is to communicate with the listener, to transmit all forms of music. They have been doing this since 1979 – quite the tenure for DJs. February 3, Saturday, guests gather at 9:00 PM, Slam Mode (Desvio, USA) at Shanti's birthday celebration.
