"Lately I have been working on a blog created together with Alex Di and Anton Zapom. The blog is made for myself and friends, many of whom I can only communicate with online. You can check it out here www.respectmybudget.ru. At the same time, we play different musical instruments. I also travel to different cities in Russia, constantly realizing that there is nothing left to surprise myself with.
Music, as before, is an integral part of my life. I listen to it for about 4-5 hours a day, so it's very difficult for me to talk about what I truly like and what I don't. There is just too much music, and I like a lot of it. It might be easier to say what has been playing in the speakers over the last half hour, as all these tracks were good.
Dan Curtin - Wiretrap.
Dan Curtin's career began in early 1992. His first records were released on Detroit labels, which says a lot. He also released on my favorite label Tunning Spork. Wiretrap is a composition from his new album; it is very soft and beautiful. It’s great for finishing any musical evening.
Larry Heard feat Che - The incident.
Larry Heard's creativity has become a starting point and inspiration for countless musicians. He released his first track in 1986 in collaboration with singer Robert Owens under the pseudonym Fingers Inc. If you know English, I strongly recommend paying attention to the words - it turned out to be very funny. Che got the microphone and was told - say whatever you think, - which resulted in a decent composition.
Rocky Mizell - I don't care what you say.
Rocky Mizell has released only two records, but both are interesting. This is disco from the early 80s. A very mood-setting song - you'll understand why as soon as you listen.
Model 500 - The Chase.
Juan Atkins performs under the pseudonym Model 500. This is well-known... Detroit, Detroit, Detroit. The Chase is dated back to 1989, but despite its age, I still play it in clubs. Good music is not subject to the influence of time.
Baron Zen - Walked in line.
Stone Throw Records is the label of Madlib, which is constantly looking for unconventional musical solutions, and this time it’s Baron Zen - a teacher at a school, who "screamed" a couple of songs with a guitar in his garage. Punk rock, but very engaging. Plus, there are a lot of remixes of this track by some very worthy composers.
