Together with his compatriots: Daft Punk and Cassius, Dimitri From Paris is considered one of the best French DJs and artists on the international music scene. Dimitri from Paris was born in Turkey and later settled in France. He entered the dance music scene in the mid-80s, working as a DJ on French Radio 7. By 1990, he had already become quite popular, allowing him to produce soundtracks for fashion icons such as Chanel, Lagerfeld, and Gaultier. In 1993-94, Dimitri released two solo EPs, a mini LP Esquisses, and compiled La Yellow 357 for Yellow Productions. He also remixed songs for hundreds of artists, including Bjork, the Brand New Heavies, New Order, James Brown, and Etienne Daho. Dimitri from Paris, one of the brightest representatives of the new wave of French dance music, draws his inspiration from the 50s and early 60s continental jet-setting faux-jazz (for example, Dick Hyman, John Barry, and Martin Denny), modernized through his work as a house DJ. Dimitri from Paris's debut album - 'Sacre Bleu' - was released at the end of 1996, again on Yellow Productions. Recognized as the best album of the year by MixMag, this record, which sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide, was released in America in early 1998. The 1997 mix record 'De-Luxe House of Funk' showed that Dimitri from Paris had returned to his house roots. Instead of working on a second album, he released several more sets: ICU Session, Vol. 3, A Night at the Playboy Mansion, and the BBE box set Disco Forever.
