Dinky is known worldwide as a resident of Cocoon, a participant in festivals like Sonar, Ten days off, Sonne Mond Stern, and Mutek, headlining major parties at The End, Amnesia, Privilege, and DC10. Dinky's track 'Acid in my Fridge' received worldwide acclaim and quickly established her unique sound - a blend of minimal and experimental techno, vintage acid and click house, funk, and soul - serving as a reference point for a whole wave of techno artists. Dinky is part of the Circo Loco team; she is revered in Italy and Ibiza. Recently, Dinky has become a resident at Berlin's Panorama Bar and the founder of her own label, Horizontal, garnering press attention and interest from other recording giants such as Cocoon, Minus, and Resist. Currently, Dinky is working on an album for Cross Town Rebels, preparing singles for British Underline and German Cocoon, and planning a tour in Japan.
Alejandra Iglesias was born in Santiago, Chile. Due to her mother's influence, Dinky grew up with a love for playing the piano and music. From a young age, she studied various arts, training to become a professional dancer and choreographer. At just 16, she danced in Peter Gabriel's show and has always felt comfortable on stage. As a teenager, Dinky listened to artists like Cocteau Twins, Depeche Mode, Prince, and The Cramps, as well as classical and modern composers including Brian Eno and Erik Satie. In the mid-90s, her sister in Berlin introduced her to electronic music, broadening her collection with musicians like Plastikman, Aphex Twin, and Carl Craig. Around 1994, Dinky crossed paths with Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack, Atom heart, Luciano, and other artists connected to Chile, deeply immersing herself in this direction. Dinky began attempting to mix records as a teenager, gaining attention in Chilean public. Her first trip to Berlin in 1994 allowed her to experience clubs like E werk and Tresor, witnessing performances by Hell, Stacey Pullen, and Sven Vath, who inspired her from the start of her career. In the late 90s, Dinky moved from Santiago to Manhattan, quickly making a name for herself in New York's club scene. That same year, Dinky entered a recording studio for the first time, producing a track with her friend Jorge Gonzalez, a Chilean pop star, with whom she still collaborates. Following this experience, she decided to create her own music, starting to work with the German record label Traum Schallplatten at 23, releasing several singles and a CD album. Dinky gained the attention of the German press, embarked on her first European tour, and soon joined Miss Kittin's tour in America. Dinky quickly became one of the most well-known female DJs worldwide, balancing club work with music production, recording company collaborations, and organizing her own performances like a show in the heart of New York City's Chinatown with her friend Magda. In 2003, Dinky completed her second release 'Black Cabaret', which was extensively covered by the press. Unfortunately, she had to leave the US due to new visa regulations after the 9/11 attacks, prompting her to move to Berlin. In 2005, she collaborated with Sven Vath at Cocoon records; her track 'Acid in my Fridge' gained worldwide popularity, becoming a bestseller, featuring on international compilations by Ministry of Sound and Fabric, and receiving remixes by Timo Maas, Toni Rios, Death in Vegas, among others. Sven Vath invited Dinky to be part of the summer residency at Cocoon in Ibiza's club Amnesia, as well as to contribute to the record 'Mix for the 6th season' alongside Miss Kittin and Villalobos. This Cocoon release is considered timeless.
