Dungen. Swedish folk-rock-psychedelia

"The sound of Dungen corresponds to all my teenage ideas about happy hippies. All these psychedelic flutes remarkably convey a mystical forest vibration. Undoubtedly shocking that it's made now, not in 1969" - Viceland magazine. The founder of Dungen, Gustav Ejstes, grew up in the small Swedish town of Lanna in the Vastergotland region. His father, who played cello and violin himself and taught music, introduced Gustav to the mysterious and incomprehensible world of Swedish folk music and showed him the basics of guitar and piano playing in his childhood. As a teenager, Gustav became passionate about hip-hop and sampling, which, together with his love for folk, shaped Gustav's musical vision. He immersed himself in the world of vinyl records and today owns many incredibly rare Swedish records from the 1960s-70s. This opened up a completely new world to the musician. Gustav returned to old guitars, drums, bass, and keyboards. He moved to his mother's farm deep in the forest, where his interest in Swedish folk music intensified even more. After a full day's work on the farm, he spent all night in his music studio - his grandmother's basement. The music he composed became increasingly individual and unlike anything else. Rumors spread quickly in the Swedish music underground about Dungen, stubbornly composing strange "folk-rock-psychedelia". Gustav's friend Stefan Kry released Dungen's first vinyl record at his studio Subliminal Sounds. The record was approved by underground experts worldwide. Soon, on the major label Doolores/Virgin, 3 CD singles were released, one of which concluded the soundtrack to the 2nd part of "The Jungle Book" released in Scandinavia. The album Stadsvandringar ("city walks" in English), also released on vinyl under the name "II" with selected Subliminal Sounds tracks, attracted the attention of the Swedish mass media. However, despite this, Gustav refused to cooperate with major labels, forging close ties with Subliminal Sounds. In early 2006, Dungen's new album was released. This record turned out just the way Gustav wanted it to be: uncompromising. The new album Ta Det Lugnt (English version - Take It Easy) by Dungen was widely recognized as his most interesting work. The record included absolutely stunning and original compositions. Ta Det Lugnt is an uncompromising, multifaceted musical journey straight into the listener's consciousness, taking them somewhere into the dense forests of Sweden. The extraordinary creativity of the project has recently been highly appreciated by the global musical community. As a result, invitations to the best club venues and stages at the most progressive festivals, including the legendary Coachella in the US and the Dutch Eurosonic, where Dungen have already performed this year. Dungen's credits also include shows at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, tours in Europe, Australia, the US, concerts in Iceland, Germany, and the UK. Therefore, the performance at club "B2" seems perfectly logical, especially since it will be timed to the Russian release of the Dungen album Ta Det Lugnt. On June 22 at 9:00 PM, Dungen (Sweden) will perform at club B2.
