The Zen Practice of Krush
Клубные российские · 25.06.2007
Originally from Tokyo, in the late 80s Krush watched the movie 'Wild Style' dedicated to DJ craftsmanship, got inspired, bought turntables - and from there he only moved forward and upward. Starting with hip-hop and jazz, Krush quickly stopped settling for a simple cocktail of beats and samples and came up with his own, incomparable style. In the 90s, he was classified as trip-hop - Krush's deep, fantastically beautiful compositions did indeed resemble the creations of the Bristol innovators, but time showed that his music transcended any genre labels. Hip-hop, dub, IDM, electro, ethnic sounds - Krush never confined himself, he experimented and enjoyed working with rappers, musicians, and singers from around the world; among his collaborators were the great DJ Shadow, Jamaican legends Sly & Robbie, Afro-European group Zap Mama, The Roots, and dozens of other equally famous names. Krush's music combines tenderness and rigidity, smoothness and speed; it's akin to a Zen monk's practice - when you meditate for a long time on a rock garden, but at any moment the teacher can sneak up and strike you on the head with a bamboo stick. Krush, staying true to himself, has stood the test of time and continues to develop his unique sound in the new century; his Zen-hop worldview, his deep, philosophical music remains mysterious and inscrutable. The Japanese master transcends conventions and styles, he's self-assured, with the sole representation at Ikra - a rare opportunity, not to be missed. July 30th, Saturday, Ikra club, DJ Krush (Japan), Adni Isakovich (Milesaway Sessions/ US), Studitsky & Rasskazov (Heads.FM), Epic Soundsystem, Ice, DJ Komotsky, Special visuals – Antishanti, tickets in advance: 600 rubles
