Eduard Khil on stage at 16 Tons club

The backstory of the events currently happening with Eduard Khil is incredible but real. In October of last year, a funny Soviet hit song 'I Am So Glad, 'Cause I'm Finally Returning Back Home', also known as 'Vocalise', sounded on the air of the morning show of 'Silver Rain' radio station. And everything would have been fine if one of the listeners living overseas hadn't been so touched by it that he added a video of the song to his blog, and a dozen of his friends picked it up - and added it too. Three months later, the global 'Trololo' boom (as the video was dubbed in the West) reached its peak. Television comedians, rock musicians, Oscar winners, millions and millions of ordinary people spawned a global trololo-mania, started collecting signatures in support of Khil's world tour, and created the loudest internet sensation of 2010. Eduard Anatolyevich himself learned about what was happening from his grandson and Russian media, which literally bombarded the singer with interviews. One can have different attitudes toward what happened, as a curiosity or a global recognition, but one should definitely be happy for one of the brightest Soviet idols. Khil for us is not only 'Vocalise', but also a fantastic creative longevity and an interesting fate that includes meetings with Gagarin, time spent in Paris, Kuryakin's 'Pop-Mechanical' and the rock project 'Prepinaki', dozens of true hits for all times and songs by Andrey Petrov, Arkady Ostrovsky, and many others, 'Winter' and 'On an Unknown Hill', 'I Walk Around Moscow' and 'How the Motherland Begins'; the list could go on for hours, but it's better to hear them live. Without a certain amount of irony, this concert might not have happened, but considering Eduard Anatolyevich's excellent form, his positive reaction to recent events, and his desire to perform, everything will happen on the stage of '16 Tons' club on April 24.
