From March 23 to 25, 2007, the 3rd annual Qwartz Electronic Music Awards will take place in Paris. It is not as well-known in Russia as the MTV Music Awards, for example. However, this year the situation may change, because the Russian group Eject Project is contending for the main prize in the category of Best Experimental Project in Europe with their new album Unreal Time (label Citadel Records). The organizers of the competition intend for the nominations (of which there are eight in total) to represent all shades of contemporary electronic music. All voters are invited to mark their favorite Track, Album, Compilation, Video, Author's Work, Design, and Packaging. There are also nominations for Musical Discovery and Best Experimental Project, for which the Russian group is contending this year. The competition is funded by the famous music diva Björk, who is expected to be present at the event. This year, the winner, determined among more than 300 works via online voting, will receive 5000 euros. The chances for the Russian group to win are quite high, as at the opening of the competition on March 23, our musicians were entrusted to test a new eight-channel system live using monitors from Haliaetus. The Qwartz Electronic Music Awards - 2007 should showcase the current state of the contemporary electronic music market and its main development trends.
