Exclusive DJ Set by Definite Grooves

"I have always wanted to record and play music and see people dance and enjoy it," says Andy Iggleton. He and his friend, Mike Longtron, are passionate lovers of house music. A few years ago they were ordinary club-goers and music fans, but one fine day decided to try their hand at creating new dance tracks. In 2000, they founded the project Definite Grooves. After four years of painstaking and exciting work, they achieved success: their light, cheerful disco-house music is now played by the world's most famous DJs. In July 2000, on Ibiza, Andy and Mike met Full Intention and DJ Danny Ward. Upon their return to the UK, Danny became the third member of Definite Grooves. The collective members admit that they enjoy completely different music, from Jamiroquai, Air, and Gomez to old-school hardcore DJs Rat Pack, Micky Finn, and Stu Allen. "Definite Grooves always strive to blend different trends. We do not belong to the category of musicians who copy the same style," says Mike. Who would have thought that the trendiest dance music is being produced in the quiet little town of Hull (not to be confused with Hell!) in eastern Yorkshire. The project members were born here, live here between tours, and here is the Definite Grooves studio. But at the same time, they are children of globalisation. "We record a new track in our village, send it to several agents in London, and then it is released on some American label," say the group members. Definite Grooves have released on leading labels: Full Intension D'tention records, Waako Records, Bakka, Stoneyboy. Their records have been included in playlists by StoneBridge, Paul Farris, The Slammin Boys, and others. Danny is a resident of Faith club (at The Fez) and has been playing with another Faith resident, top English DJ Terry Deja vu, for many years. This allows Definite Grooves to test new music on people and invite DJs from other clubs to play with them. Ward is also a resident of Eden club in Ibiza and constantly plays at L'Americas in Scotland and 52nd State in London. "So, if it all suddenly ends tomorrow, I will be satisfied - we have done what we dreamed of," says Longtron. But it seems that the story of Definite Grooves is only just beginning and ahead of them are many new hits and packed dance floors.
