ElectroShik presents live Casual Underground
Клубные российские · 10.11.2006
Casual Underground is a high-tech creative laboratory that has been working for many years on creating audiovisual material that meets the most demanding aesthetic requirements influenced by such musical formations as Basic Channel, Underground Resistance, and Kraftwerk. The collective is characterized by an organic combination of rhythmic musical pulsations and video performance, a notorious dedication to the already classic analog method of sound extraction, and an unconditional adherence to the spirit of authentic techno music. Disregard for fashionable trends, absence of any ambitions related to self-promotion in the club scene, and a maniacal passion for creating rhythmic and visual samples have led the project to a situation where over more than 10 years of existence, only a few music lovers regularly attending the rare live performances of the collective know about it. The musicians' concert rider includes not only familiar sound modules from Akai, Roland, Moog, but also synthesizers from the Soviet era: Polivoks, Altair 231, Rhythm-2, which are not inferior to their foreign counterparts in sound quality and capabilities. Focused on the rich sound of real 'iron' synthesizers, the creative concept of creating music material virtually excludes a multimedia approach with its plastic, flat sound. The computer plays the role of a multitrack tape recorder, and all sounds, sequences, rhythmic patterns are created on old analog equipment. The creative sphere of the project participants is not limited to creating techno music. Alexey (Seldom) is the heart of the wind rhythm section of the Quartal band and performs as a session musician in a dozen rock, jazz, and ethno collectives, Mikhail (Miguel) works as a DJ in popular clubs in Moscow (Propaganda, Shanti, Sup-cafe, and others), and Stas (Stan) has been dedicating his free time from creativity to creative activities in the IT industry for many years. Currently, Casual Underground is releasing its first vinyl release Chromium Dioxide on its own label AstraSound based in the Netherlands (astra-sound.com), actively working as VJs, managing to play at a wide variety of parties, from underground performances of Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, and Hard Floor at the Gorod club, to large-scale events organized by the Zeppelin Production team (Fort Dance 2005, Halloween, Fantastica, etc.). On November 17, Friday, starting at 00:00, at the Ikra club, ElectroShik presents live Casual Underground, as well as DJs: Zorkin, B-Voice, and Helga.
