Alice Russell, the main discovery of the rising Tru Thoughts label, appeared on the music scene just a couple of years ago, but managed to overshadow many with her lightness and primal beauty of voice. Today she is referred to as "the hottest singer in contemporary Britain." The heroine of glamorous discos and muse of virtuoso electronic musician Will Holland, who stands behind the Quantic and Quantic Soul Orchestra projects, she has lent her vocals to the best of the best: the jazz-soul-disco quartet Bah Samba, Nostalgia 77, and Max Sedgeley. Her voice is nostalgically poignant like the black music of the 70s, sweet and playful like disco of the 80s. Music critics have already placed her in the same league as Aretha Franklin, Eva Cassidy, and Jill Scott. Electronic rhythms, funk, jazz, and soul are mixed with impeccable taste, showcasing the virtuosic production skills of the singer's collaborator TM Juke, another hero of Tru Thoughts and a regular at the trendy London club Cargo. The artist has two albums to her name. Her debut "Under The Munka Moon" (Tru Thoughts, 2004) was recorded with the participation of esteemed soul and jazz performers Bah Samba, Kushti, Nature Boy, and Quantic. The second solo album, "My Favourite Letters" (Tru Thoughts, 2005), involved Digitek, Atjazz, and Plaid. Her voice can be heard on the Quantic album "Apricot Morning" and the funk single "Stampede" and in one of 4Hero's hits "Hold It Down."
In Moscow, Alice Russell will present her second solo album. Although Alice Russell has toured in Moscow with a DJ set and in St. Petersburg with Bah Samba, this time she will present a recently created exclusive solo concert program. On stage - an orchestra of seven people + her ally TM Juke, playing a captivating mix of gospel, hip-hop, jazz, broken rhythms, electronics, and funk.
