'Emotional, noisy, immersive, mysterious, and sexy'—this is how Ellen Allien describes her new mix from the Boogybytes series of the BPitch Control label. Boogybytes Vol.4 will be released next month.
Ms. Allien releases the fourth part of the series following label residents Kiki, Sascha Funke, and Modeselektor. Similar to the releases of her predecessors, her mix is based on music heard in clubs. Allien has compiled her favorite tracks from such musicians as Ricardo Villalobos, Melchior Productions, and Gaiser, as well as newcomers like Melon and Lucio Aquilina, combining it with a verbal intro from Berlin poet AGF and concluding with the ballad 'Twice' by the Swedish indie-pop quartet Little Dragon. The album cover traditionally features an instant photo of the mix's author's rotating head from the 'spinning heads' series by photographer Axl Jansen.
