Christmas ornaments present warm mathematics

On March 7th, the presentation of the album "Warm Math" by the St. Petersburg adepts of 'intelligent' electronic music - the duo 'Christmas Ornaments' will take place in the new club Ikra. The secret of EU (this abbreviation of the collective is spelled in English letters) lies in the union of a melodist and a constructivist - Alexander Zaitsev and Ilya Baramiya, in a flawless, refined yet humanized technique. In calculation and inspiration. In the stubborn unwillingness to follow beaten paths. In unearthly talent - following which literal unearthly fame came to them in the West. The album 'Warm Math' has already been released in Europe and has caused a wave of enthusiastic responses there. On March 7th, thanks to the label 'Legkie', this work of the Russian electronic music guru is for the first time available to the domestic listener. Math can also be warm and beautiful. Ilya Baramiya is convinced of this, having graduated from a physics and mathematics boarding school in Peterhof - a school for exceptionally gifted children: "Usually, this type of music has a cold, mechanistic sound, and we wanted to do just the opposite - hence the name. And beauty doesn't come from nowhere - it's a feeling that arises inside a person and that they can convey to others in various ways - poetry, painting, dance, music, storytelling... a program, a mathematical formula... 'Warm Math' - I suggested this name when I clearly formulated the idea of this album," says Alexander Zaitsev. - We were recording it at a time when everyone was fascinated by the 'technical' and 'experimental' side of creativity, music was crackling, buzzing, lacking melody drastically. That's why electronic music was accused of coldness, 'mechanicalness,' they said that only dead digital music without a soul can be made on computers. We knew that was not the case, that computer music can be warm, alive, that 'digits' can sound organic. That's why we decided to record this album. In addition to working with electronic Western indie labels and respected Russian institutions like Cheburec and 'Art-Tek,' besides their authorial achievements, EU are also talented producers. Two of the brightest domestic projects of the mid-decade: the intellectual hip-hop 2H Company and the noir chanson of Stas Baretsky - are the result of their compositional (and performing) creativity. In both of these collectives, EU are 'responsible' for the music. Christmas Ornaments have three personae. All of them can be seen together in the evening of March 7th at the presentation of the new album 'Christmas Ornaments'. March 7th, club Ikra. Ex-Course, presentation of the album 'Christmas Ornaments' 'Warm Math', featuring performances by EU, 2H Company, and Stas Baretsky. Starting at 23:00. Ticket price - 350 rubles.
