The end of the New Year holidays “AUTUMN project” will be celebrated, beloved by the secular public, with a party of its English resident DJ Curtis Mantronik “The Art of Cutting” or “Facetin’Art”
Only a few musicians in our time have such an influence on modern music as KURTIS MANTRONIK.
Born in Jamaica and raised in Canada and England, Kurtis first tried his hand at music in the early 80s. Working at the famous music store DOWNTOWN RECORDS, he recorded and released his first DJ set, “Fresh is the world,” which became his first hit, after which the owner of the Downtown Records store introduced him to producer Will Sokolov from the legendary Sleeping Back Records. As a result of this meeting, Kurtis was able to release several of his mixes, which included compositions of dance music classics, such as: Bassline, Cold Getting Dump.
Starting out in the early 80s as a DJ, Kurtis later began to try himself as a remixer and composer. He recorded and released several compositions that were based on styles such as Hip hop, electro, R’n’B, dance and Rock. Kurtis later signed a contract with Capitol Records, where he released several of his most popular singles, such as Gotta Have Your Love and King of The Beat.
In 2001, Curtis decided that the house music world needed some Funk
filling and released a couple of compositions on “Distinktive Records” called HARRY’S GRAND KIDS and a collection of “Mantronik” called “That’s my beat”, which were released on “Soul Jazz Records” in 2002.
Last year Kurtis released a CD on Eye Industries called "CHAMONIX" featuring 77!! compositions. The second track from this album, Norman Cook (Fat Boy Slim) included in his mix on Big Beach Boutique and was shocked by the enormous success of this composition among a crowd of 250,000 people, as a result of which Norman decided to release this composition under his own label, Southern Fried records.
This composition was re-released in mid-June with the addition of vocals, and was played on such radio stations as: Radio 1, Capital, Galaxy, GWR, Vibe, Beat 106, Forth, Kiss and MTV Dance
Now Kurtis, in addition to DJing and playing music, is engaged in writing remixes for popular artists such as: Linda Clifford, Liberty X, S Club, Isaac James, Junior Senior and Barbara B.
