Festival of Izhevsk Electronic Music "Kalashnikov Electro"

The festival of Izhevsk electronic music "Kalashnikov Electro" will take place at the club "16 Tons" (Moscow), timed to the release of the eponymous compilation being produced through the joint efforts of two labels – the Izhevsk KAMA and the Moscow LEGKIE.

"Everyone knows that Izhevsk is a sort of Bermuda triangle where amazing music is born, unlike anything else and often ahead of its time. I often say that Izhevsk is the new musical capital of Russia. The new music that awaits us in the third millennium is undoubtedly electronic music, and the largest amount of original electronic music in our country is made in Izhevsk."

The work of the two companies is planned to be organized as follows: "KAMA" will deal with Izhevsk projects and prepare them for "big life," while "Legkie" will carry out this very exit, meaning they will release discs and make sure that as many people as possible learn about this music. "We plan not only to publish interesting Izhevsk artists but to make their releases true events – they deserve it," comments Oleg Nesterov.

The first such event will be the release of the compilation "Kalashnikov Electro," which will represent a slice of what the Izhevsk electronic scene breathes at the beginning of 2002, although track listings will also include tracks from already non-existent collectives that have become iconic and have firmly entered the cultural history of Izhevsk. The music presented on the compilation is stylistically extremely diverse and unites on one large platform electronic and near-electronic music. However, there will also be experiments with sound, dance rhythms, and light listening, post-rock and post-industrial sounds.

At the festival, which will be a sort of "Izhevsk Day in Moscow" and will take place on March 28 at the" 16 Tons" club, Izhevsk electronic music will be presented in such volume for the first time. Groups ~0.28, "Cocoa Tunez", "De-Pulse", "Gattaca" - modern heroes of Izhevsk will perform there. The concert will be preceded by a small press conference, a documentary film with rare moments from the history of the Izhevsk label, as well as a real Izhevsk buffet.
