Festival 'Light Around'

This year, the most famous Russian travel magazine 'Around the World' celebrates its 145th anniversary since its founding. This unique publication was immensely popular before the revolution, published in mass circulation during the Soviet era, and in recent years has turned into a powerful media brand, under which not only the magazine is released, but also a series of guides and a television program. To celebrate its birthday, 'Around the World' is hosting a large-scale festival that will conceptually play on the name of the magazine. Guests of the celebration will be able to get acquainted with the culture of all parts of the world in just one day and in one place.

How will it be?
The venue is thematically divided into two zones. The larger zone, 'North', where the stage and DJ booth will be located, will become the main dance floor, accommodating from 3 to 4 thousand people. The smaller zone, 'South', designed for 500-700 people, will serve as a counterpoint to 'North', where more calm, relaxing music - reggae and hip-hop - will play. The zones will also differ in lighting and decorations: while the main priority for the 'large' area will be sound quality, the 'small' area will be a relaxation zone - more comfortable and conducive to rest, styled to imitate a beach and tropical forest. If the 'North' zone is meant for dancing, the 'South' zone will allow you to sit in an inflatable chair or sink into a comfortable pouf. Part of the territory will turn into a beach - the floor will be covered with sand and umbrellas with sun loungers will be placed there. Statists in sunglasses and swimsuits will stroll along the dune. 'North' and 'South' can be connected either by a regular passage or an additional one - a small labyrinth consisting of several 'thematic' rooms symbolizing parts of the world or different continents. Each zone will be equipped with a bar. The hall will have a snack café where you can taste dishes from the cuisines of various nations. There will also be a bookstore, a stand with music discs, a small clothing shop, and branded merchandise. There will be a separate area showcasing travel-themed films.

Who will perform?
The festival is unprecedented not only in its format, oriented towards conceptual Western events such as the Norwegian Oya Festival or the British Big Chill, but also in its lineup. No events held in Moscow that can be compared to 'Light Around' in terms of scale and quality (picnic 'Afisha', Nokia Lab) have gathered such a number of relevant and sought-after artists: Nightmares On Wax (UK), President Bongo - Gus Gus DJs (Iceland), Banco de Gaia (UK), SCSI-9 (Russia), Dj S. Peres aka Sanchez, Dj Sapunov, Vanila, Helga, Martin Landers, as well as: Dj Gregory, Da Budz (live), Flammable Beats Soundsystem, Mystic Roots Soundsystem, and Rt Selecta.

Where will the festival take place?
'Danilovskaya Manufaktura' (Warsaw Highway 9, building 1, metro 'Tulskaya') - a building constructed in 1867, a closed venue accommodating 3500 people, close to the 3rd transport ring, with 2 separate entrances and driveways, comfortable VIP parking for 400 cars. Address - Varshavka 6.

On Saturday, October 7, 2006. The event will run from 20:00 on Saturday to 8:00 on Sunday.
